Acupuncture Treatment for Digestive Problems

Many people suffer from digestive problems on a daily basis. These problems can range from gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) to life threatening illnesses, such as Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. Our diets, as well as stress, are important factors influencing our digestive health.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the main organ system dealing with digestion is the spleen (Note: In TCM the organ system is not the same as the anatomical organ we think of in Western Medicine). The spleen is responsible for transporting food in the body and helping it to eliminate waste. When we eat too much food or too much of the wrong kind of food, we damage the spleen's ability to process food well. Gas, bloating and stool problems than develop.

Foods that are the hardest for the spleen to process are: fried or greasy food, sugary food, alcohol, and especially iced beverages. Iced beverages can squelch the fire in our stomach that helps digest our food.

Emotions such as worry and anger can disrupt the spleen and liver which than affects our digestive system. Symptoms such as abdominal pain and acid reflux may result. Acupuncture can rebalance and strengthen the body's digestive organ systems thereby effectively treating digestive disorders.

Acupuncture by Lil Bush, specializes in treating digestive problems with a balance of herbal medicine and acupuncture.

I started acupuncture treatments with Lil to restore my energy—It did a lot more than that. Acupuncture has helped me regain my energy, but it has also given me a better quality of life!”
